Our lovely 23 acre mountainside RV park has 39 sites which includes 28 fully-serviced RV Sites, 8 non-serviced tenting sites and 3 cabin sites for our quaint Get-a-Way cabin and 2 fully-furnished luxury Park Model Cabins . We had just enlarged 3 more sites to over 50′ long bringing the number of our big-rig sites to 6. Many of our other sites are over 45′ long.

The big-rig sites now have new satellite dish connections to our Bell and Shaw HD satellite dishes as of May 2013.

Conveniently located right on Highway 3 (the Crowsnest Highway) just 5 minutes west of the town of Castlegar in the BC Kootenays.

Many of our sites are grassy and others are graveled. Most of our RV sites are surrounded with mature shade trees. We supply potable well water, 15 and 30 amp hydro and sani-sewers on almost all of our sites and we have a sani-dump for your convenience. Most of the sites are 30′ to 45′ long but we have sites for larger rigs up to 48 feet or longer. We recommend that guests with longer rigs call and reserve a suitable site in advance if at all possible.

Our WiFi is very strong and all of the RV sites get a good wireless signal from 5 hotspots. As well, 3G cellular service is good here from Bell, Telus and Rogers. We offer some free TV channels via in many of the sites and we have Bell and Star Choice satellite dishes available in many of our sites. We rent satellite receivers if you want more choices of channels. On request we can also provide DVD movies to our guests.

Our washrooms are famous for being very clean and coin operated hot showers are available. We have 2 laundry facilities with washers and dryers and our outdoor clothes line is free to those who prefer the natural way of drying clothes. Our common area has a love-seat swing and outdoor chairs for your relaxing comfort. We do not permit campfires in the RV sites but our common area has a fireplace and a propane BBQ for your use.

If you are bringing your pet, we have a large off-leash area complete with pickup bags and container for pet droppings. We request that pet droppings be placed in that container rather than putting them in our food garbage containers.

To be environmentally responsible, we have 2 buildings one each for food garbage, styrofoam and cardboard and another building to store recycle refuse such as bottles, glass, cans, plastics, egg cartons and newspapger. We supply appropriate garbage bags for use in separating and depositing your refuse.

The RV Park oparates from early April until late October each year. The cabins operate year-round; during the summer tourist season they rent to vacationers on a nightly or weekly basis then in the off season renting by the month or week from Sept to April often to college students from local Selkirk college or trades people on temporary assignments in the area .

As of 2013, we now have a limited number of off-seasonal (winter) sites – call for a monthly quote.

Choose between comfortable grassy tent sites where you can park your vehicle next to your camp and also be near our washrooms and picnic shelter. Or hike a short distance up our tree-filled mountain and enjoy wilderness camping in an unspoiled, quiet mountain side forest where the bears, coyotes and bobcats roam (they won’t eat you – we promise) – yet be close enough to civilization and our facilities if you need them. Lay in your sleeping bag and enjoy hearing the sounds of the forest while watching the clear, smog free sky where the moon, stars, comets and satellites can clearly be seen gliding by overhead.

We have just finished riding the section between Castlegar and Midway. We had a great trip and just wanted to share a bit of information. The Castlegar RV Park & Campground were great to us. Dale & Liz let us leave our van there, dropped us off at the trailhead and even offered to pick us up at the bus station. Can’t recommend them enough.

Fellow travelers:

If you happen to be traveling in the North Country in the vicinity of Castlegar BC and are in need of a place to park your RV, rent a cabin, or pitch a tent, do not pass up the opportunity to avail yourself of the accommodations of Castlegar’s RV Park just west of town.

A few weeks ago I was sitting in my living room in heart of Texas anticipating a trip to British Columbia and found the RV Park on the Internet. I called the owner of the establishment (Dale) and found a warm and friendly voice on the other end. Fortunately for me, he had room for my visit. I flew to Spokane, rented a car, grab some camping gear at Walmart and headed north to Castlegar on a Monday morning.

Pulling into the Park I found Dale walking toward the office. He tipped his hat—I did the same—and I checked in…buying a fishing license to boot. He offered tons of information about the area, warned me about the bears and info on the local fishing holes.

Now, if you’re looking for a place that offers clean restrooms, a clean place to wash your clothes…with books to read while you’re waiting, a friendly group of residents, do not pass up this establishment just west of town on Route 3. You won’t be disappointed. Oh, did I mention it’s wireless. You can check your emails from home.

Many thanks to Dale and Liz for making my stay in your RV Park so enjoyable.

Need a recommendation, email me.

Hello . Just a quick note to thank you for the nice spot to camp.
We were sure glad you were open.
Hit some pretty bad ice just after we left your park. Its just a little scary when your pulling something that big. After that dry roads all the way home.
Thanks again and hope to see you again in the future.
April was probably not the best time for us to evaluate this RV park. There was still a lot of snow on the ground, and the owner (a very nice couple) had just cleared out a few sites. Water was not available, since it was so cold that the faucets would freeze. The facilities were clean, but elderly. Wi-Fi was good. We actually only used the electric power. We’re sure that this would be a really nice campground in the summer.

August 9, 2007
Thanks for a wonderful, clean campground. The area is clean and it was great to look at the stars. We stopped here initially just to get off the highway, but if we return to Castlegar, we will stay here (and recommend you to others).
Sincerely, Tracy & Bob M.

Dear Liz and Dale, We wish to thank you for your efforts in keeping this rv park a great place to stay. We can tell from our experience here that you try to think about your guests and help the guests during their stay. We appreciate it and keep up the great work.
Hi Liz and Dale:
We had a wonderful stay at your park and your hospitality was the greatest. Being our first trip to the Kootenays only wants us to return for another visit. Hopefully, next year. Of course, Roamin’ and Rhoda (my vizslas or red kids) really enjoyed their daily walks up the mountain, a great place to walk and exercise the dogs. Castlegar is a very nice place and we thoroughly enjoyed the area. I also found a wonderful place for the dogs to swim and run in a field. The West Kootenay Kennel Club have a very nice venue at the Pass Creek Exhibition Grounds. Their obedience trials were well organized , for a small club. Looking forward to returning to your area as you made our stay the “greatest”.
“The Squamish gang had a great time on our bike trip. The weather was favorable, hot at times which necessitated an early start. Other than at Tunnel, we were in the lake or river so it was great. Thank you so much for your hospitality, and send-off. The pictures are great. You are welcome to use this email in your promotional materials. Thanks again. Linda”

“Thanks for the lovely hospitality. We ended up staying last night in Pincher Creek. – Alberta has been rocked by snow and storms the whole time we were gone. Anyway, thank you again & the place was lovely and we definitely had a wonderful time.

Sept 9, 2002 Dear Liz & Dale:
My husband and I stayed at
your campground last Saturday night (site #4) and now that we are back home
from our long vacation across Canada, I thought I would let you know how much we enjoyed our brief stay at your place. You are to be commended on the cleanliness of your campground and facilites, the pleasant, grassy RV sites, and I particularly appreciated your ‘hands on’ approach towards all your
customers which we did not see much of anywhere else we stayed across Canada.
“Hi Dale and Liz, This is Gilbert. I don’t know if you remember us, but we will never forget you. About a month ago we stayed at your campground on our way to Vancouver. It was me, my wife and our two daughters. We are from El Paso, Texas and we were traveling in a black Ford Explorer towing a popup- trailer. I had just bent the back trailer bumper and had to kick it back into place. We had a great night there, thanks. Wish we had stayed longer. I logged onto your website and without saying a word I asked my younger daughter, “do you know who these people are?” She started jumping up and down and said “Yes daddy, those are those very nice people from our first night in Canada!” Thanks for everything, but above all, thanks for creating some memories for us especially our daughters.
” Dear Dale & Liz, Doris and I wish you a very pleasant Christmas and a prosperous New Year in your new venture. We were surprised to receive a Christmas card from you as we only stayed with you for one night on our way to Victoria. You were one of the +/- 25 parks we stayed in on our 40 day cross Canada/USA trip. It is odd but Doris’s sister had remarked that she really liked Castlegar. For us, it had merely been a stop over. Still, I remember vividly talking to the two of you. You were very personable. We hope that you will do well in your new venture. If we ever come your way again, we will make sure to spend a few days at your camp and get to know Castlegar itself. We hope to leave for a 55 day Mexican caravan in early February. Once again, out best wishes.
” Hi Liz! Thanks very much for your wonderful Christmas ‘report’. I’m so pleased to hear that you and Dale are doing well and enjoying new adventures. Your new place sounds wonderful. If Heather and I are ever in your area, count on seeing us. I hope you both have a great Christmas in your snowbound paradise. Think of us Vancouverites in the dismal rain! Best regards, Bob and Heather.”

” Dale & Liz: By now you should be Mr. and Mrs. And what a special couple you make. Our best wishes for a very happy marriage. We thought you would enjoy these pictures as much as we enjoyed staying at your RV Park. We travelled 10,997 miles and staying at your park was truly a highlight of our trip. It was so nice of you to have a welcome party and invite us. Especially because cake is my favorite food!!! If we come back your way we will certainly make it a point to stay with you again.” ..”Thanks again for your hospitality at the Castlegar RV Park, we loved it.

Day 5 – 8/21 – Grand Coulee to Castlegar
OK – on to Castlegar! Here we found the local Visitors Centre with Audrey, a wonderfully perky and helpful lady who guided us through our first money exchange. Canada use $2 and $1 coins, known respectively as “Toonies” and “Loonies.” She also guided us to the Castlegar RV Park and Campground where for $18 CDN we had electricity and water. Nice place! Dale and Liz Monrad, a couple our age, had purchased the park exactly one week before we got there. He had retired from a high-stress job in high-tech and was as excited as a kid at Christmas time. “I’ve lost weight, my blood pressure is down, and I’m sleeping at night. It’s wonderful!” he told us. With me it would be the other way around, for I don’t really mind fighting with computers, but fixing things really stresses me out! – Bill and Diane E

Dec 8, 2001
” Dale and Liz – Thank you for the Christmas card! Our stay with you last summer was a most pleasant one. We were there just one week after you had taken over the park, and we have wondered how things were going. From your note and web site, it looks like they’re going great. From your place, our first ever night in Canada, we continued following the Columbia River. On September 10 we found its source at Columbia Lake. Here it was only about 10-15 meters wide and about 50-60 cm deep – quite different from its 7 KM width where it enters the Pacific Ocean. I’m putting the details of our trip on the web and can be seen at: http://home.attbi.com/~welliott21
Thanks for being a neat part of our summer! – Bill Elliott

Oct 16, 2001
“Dear Liz and Dale: Sorry we forgot your key. Thinking of the snow slowed our memory banks down. Do hope we can get up next summer and spend more time in your delightful area. Have a nice Xmas and best of luck with your campground. We were pleased with it. Al and Joyce B.”
